How we rank med spas
Plain English: our default ranking is built on real Google review data, not on whether a business pays us. Here's exactly how it works — and what a paid listing does and does not do.
The signals we use
- Google review count. Our default sort is "Most Reviewed" first — established spas with a large body of real reviews outrank new spas with a handful of perfect ratings. This matches the pattern Google Maps and Yelp use for local-business results.
- Google star rating. Used as the tiebreaker when review counts are similar. You can switch the sort to "Top Rated" if you want the highest star average regardless of review volume.
- Distance (when enabled). If you grant location access, nearby spas are surfaced first in radius searches. We never use your location without consent.
- Data completeness. Listings with photos and verified hours appear before listings that are still missing basic information — this is a user experience signal, not a paid boost.
What a paid listing does
Med spa owners can pay for an upgraded listing. Here is exactly what that buys — and what it does not:
Paid listings CAN
- • Appear in a clearly labeled "Featured" slot
- • Upload additional photos and service details
- • Display a "Verified" badge (after we verify ownership)
- • Receive direct contact from consultation requests
Paid listings CANNOT
- • Change their Google rating or review count
- • Remove negative reviews
- • Suppress competitors in search results
- • Outrank an organic listing with more reviews on the default sort
How to spot a paid listing
Paid listings carry a tier badge (Claimed, Premium, or Enterprise). If you only want to see organic search results ranked purely on Google review data, use the "Sort by" control on any search results page.
Where the review data comes from
All ratings and review counts are sourced from the Google Places API. We do not write, filter, or solicit reviews on behalf of any listed business. See How We Verify for the full data pipeline.
