Botox and fillers are often mentioned together, but they solve different problems. Understanding the difference helps you choose the right treatment — or the right combination.
How they work
Botox (a neuromodulator) temporarily relaxes the muscles that create movement wrinkles — forehead lines, frown lines, and crow's feet. Dermal fillers add volume to smooth static lines, restore cheeks and lips, and contour the face. Learn more about Botox and dermal fillers.
Cost and longevity
Botox is priced per unit (often $10–$20) and lasts 3–4 months. Fillers are priced per syringe (often $650–$1,200) and last 6–18 months depending on the product and area.
Which do you need?
If your concern is movement-related lines in the upper face, Botox is usually the answer. If it's volume loss, folds, or lip enhancement, fillers are the tool. Many patients use both — a provider can recommend the right mix at a consultation.
